A Note from Your Practitioner

You Were Told It Is Just Age

You were handed an antidepressant, a fan, and a shrug. You were told this is just what women endure after 40. You learned to push through the exhaustion, the sleepless nights, and a body you no longer recognize.

BloomHer says: not anymore. Perimenopause and menopause respond, beautifully, to root-cause, hormone-aware, whole-woman care. You can feel like yourself again: sharper, steadier, and strong. We've seen it. We do it every day.

“The change is not the end of who you are. It is the beginning of your second bloom.”

Perimenopause can begin years before your final period and last well into your fifties. You deserve real support for all of it, not a shrug.

Symptoms We See

We Hear You

If even one of these is your daily reality, you belong in this conversation.

Hot Flashes & Night Sweats

Sudden heat, drenched sheets, and a thermostat war no one else seems to understand.

Sleepless Nights

Wide awake at 3am, exhausted by day. The rest that once came easily is gone.

Stubborn Weight Gain

Especially around the middle. The habits that always worked suddenly do not.

Mood Swings & Anxiety

Irritability, tears, and a low hum of anxiety that feels chemical, because it is.

Brain Fog

Lost words, missed names, and a mental haze that makes you doubt yourself.

Low Libido & Dryness

Desire that quietly faded, plus dryness and discomfort no one warned you about.

Irregular Cycles

Periods that come early, late, heavy, or not at all. The unpredictable in-between.

Aches & Thinning Hair

New joint stiffness, drier skin, and hair that is not as full as it once was.

Heart Palpitations

Sudden flutters or a racing heartbeat, often out of nowhere, and always worth mentioning to your practitioner.

Understand Your Body

Knowledge Is the First Medicine

Nobody handed us a map for this. So let's read it together, the real numbers, the quiet truths, and the things no one told our mothers.

Peri vs. Meno: What Is the Difference?

The transition. Your hormones begin to swing, periods turn unpredictable, and the first symptoms arrive, often in your mid-40s, sometimes earlier. It can last anywhere from a few months to 10 years, about four on average. And yes, you can still get pregnant here.
A single day. You officially reach menopause the day you complete twelve full months with no period, on average around age 51. Everything after is postmenopause, and for many women it becomes the freest, most powerful chapter yet.

Perimenopause is the journey. Menopause is one specific day. Postmenopause is the whole beautiful road after.

By the Numbers

The average is about four years, but it ranges from a few months to a full decade. It usually begins in your mid-40s, and for some women in their late 30s.

In the US the average age is around 51. Reaching it before 40 is called premature menopause and deserves a closer look with your practitioner.

Research suggests up to 80 percent experience these heat surges, and they can linger seven to ten years. You are not imagining it, and you do not have to white-knuckle through it.

1 in 3+womenFeel mood swings, anger, or tearsTap to learn more

More than a third report mood swings and irritability, and many describe crying that comes from nowhere. It is the hormones talking, not a character flaw.

6 in 10womenHave their sleep disruptedTap to learn more

Up to 60 percent struggle with sleep during the transition, often the 3am wide-awake kind. Fix sleep and almost everything else gets easier.

1/3of lifeCan be lived after menopauseTap to learn more

With longer lifespans, many women now spend close to a third of their lives postmenopausal. This is not a footnote to your story. It is a whole new act.

What Your Grandmother Never Said

The women before us went through every bit of this, mostly in silence. Tap each one.

The word was "the change," and that was all anyone said
A generation was taught that a lady did not discuss her body. So the heat, the sleeplessness, and the sadness were carried in private, alone, often for years.
Night sweats soaked the sheets, blamed on the weather
There was no name for it at the dinner table and no answer at the doctor's office. The discomfort was simply something to be endured.
Brain fog and mood swings were dismissed as "nerves"
Many women were treated for anxiety, or worse, for everything except the real cause: their shifting hormones.
Desire quietly disappeared, and no one asked why
Dryness and discomfort went unspoken, even in the exam room. So intimacy faded, and the blame landed on the woman instead of her estrogen.
No hormones, no internet, no one to ask
Information was scarce and shame was plentiful. A woman white-knuckled it because no other option was ever offered to her.
Aging was something to apologize for, not understand
Midlife was framed as a quiet decline. The idea that this season could be powerful, vibrant, and chosen was never on the table.

You get to do it differently. With knowledge, with support, and with your head held high.

Intimacy, Reimagined

The part everyone whispers about. Let's say it plainly.

Sex during perimenopause
Desire can swing as wildly as your hormones, and dryness may begin earlier than you expect. It is common, it is physical, and it is fixable. (And remember, you can still get pregnant in this stage.)
Sex after menopause
Dryness and discomfort are common and very treatable. Desire does not have to disappear. With the right hormone and lifestyle support, many women say intimacy becomes deeper and freer once the fear of pregnancy is gone.

Natural Support: Vitamins and Remedies

Gentle options women ask about most. Education, not a prescription. Tap to explore.

Vitamin D and Calcium
The bone-protection pair. Estrogen's decline speeds bone loss, so these two become non-negotiable for many women in this season.
Magnesium
A quiet workhorse for sleep, mood, muscle cramps, and calm, and one of the most common shortfalls in midlife women.
B Vitamins
B6, B12, and folate support energy, mood, and a steadier nervous system through the swings.
Omega-3s
From fish or algae oil, these support mood, joints, heart, and skin, all the places that feel the hormone shift.
Black Cohosh
A herb traditionally used for hot flashes and night sweats. The evidence is mixed and it is not for everyone, so this is one to discuss with your practitioner first.
Phytoestrogens (soy, flax)
Plant compounds that gently mimic estrogen. Some women find real relief, others little. Starting with food is a lovely, low-risk place to begin.
A loving note: supplements are personal. What is right for you depends on your body, your labs, and your medications, and some can interact with prescriptions. This is education, not a prescription. Let's build the plan that fits you.
